The Home Concierge

Questions, answered plainly

How the day works, what it costs, and what happens if your list runs long.

At The Home Concierge, a full day with one handyman is a flat $1,200, whether we do three big tasks or fifteen small ones. You pick your tasks online, and we confirm the list fits in the day before you book, so the price doesn’t change partway through. Everyday supplies like screws, anchors, caulk and touch-up paint are included.

Yes. Booking a whole day is how The Home Concierge works: one pro arrives at 8:00 AM and spends the full day working through your list. You pick your tasks and reserve your date online. If we don’t finish the approved list, we come back and finish it at no charge.

Usually 10 to 15 small tasks, or a few larger ones, in one visit. A typical day might include hanging a TV, replacing two light fixtures, patching drywall, re-caulking a tub, adjusting sticking doors and hanging pictures. Our online planner tells you whether your list fits in one day before you book, and suggests a second day if it doesn’t.

Over the years, we’ve built a catalog of tasks and learned how much of a day each one takes. A full day could be one big project, or a stack of small ones that add up. The day builder shows how full your day is as you go.

No, but the price is the same either way, which is why most people fill it. Homeowners almost always have more on their list than they think.

Here is the honest version. It is not a sustainable business to drive across town for one small fix. The company that does it has to charge enough to cover the drive, the setup and the cleanup, so a two hour job comes back as a four figure bill. Most good tradespeople solve this by not answering the phone for small work at all. That is the problem this company was invented to fix. You are not buying the repair, you are buying the day, so the second project and the tenth cost you nothing extra in drive time or setup. If your list is genuinely two small items, a day is not the right fit yet. Keep a list.

$150 holds your date. Nothing is due at checkout. We collect the deposit on a phone call after you book, and that call is also where we review your task list and any materials you are supplying.

Nothing is due when you book. The $150 deposit is collected on a phone call after you book. The remaining $1,050 is charged on the day of service once the work is done, to the same card as the deposit unless you give us another one.

More than 48 hours before your day, cancel or move it as many times as you like and your $150 is refunded or comes with you. Inside 48 hours, a cancellation or a reschedule forfeits the deposit and a new $150 holds a new date. We hold one home per day, so a day given up inside 48 hours is a day we cannot fill.

8:00 AM, on the dot. No four hour window. We are not running late because a job before yours ran long, because there is no job before yours.

The first 30 minutes of the day. We walk the house together, coffees in hand, confirm the list, and agree on the order before any tool comes out.

Yes, and the way we size the day already accounts for it. You are not losing half an hour of work to it.

Only for the Home Walk™ at the start. After that it is up to you. Most people leave once the order is set.

Yes. You get a name before the day. Right now that name is the owner’s.

That is our problem, not yours. We hold Fridays open on purpose and never book them. If something behind the wall turns out worse than it looked, or the day runs out before your list does, we come back and finish it at no additional charge. You do not pay a second $1,200 because our estimate was wrong.

That is different from us running out of time. If your list is bigger than a day before we start, you will see that while you build it, and you choose whether to add a second day.

Usually. If the Home Walk™ shows that a sticking door needs a full slab, or a slider needs replacing in its existing opening, we tell you before we start and swap it into the day if there is room in the day. Work that needs the opening reframed or resized is beyond a single day, and we will say so rather than start something we cannot finish.

Our labor is guaranteed for 12 months. If something we installed or repaired fails because of how we did it, we come back and make it right at no charge. The guarantee covers our work, not the equipment itself. If a new faucet or ceiling fan fails, that is a manufacturer defect and goes back to them, though we will tell you which it is and help you sort it out.

For most tasks, no. Screws, anchors, caulk, patching compound, filters and touch-up paint are included in the day price. If a task needs something you’d want to pick yourself, like a faucet, a light fixture or a ceiling fan, you can buy it yourself, or we’ll pick it up and charge exactly what we paid, with no markup.

You will never be surprised by a materials charge. Small parts are included. Anything larger or specialty is confirmed several times before the day: at checkout when you finalize your task list, again in your confirmation email, again on the deposit call, and again on a call the day before to make sure it is on site. The Home Walk™ is the final check. If something was missed on our side, it is covered under the $1,200.

Use the Look up booking page. Your ticket number or the phone number you booked with will pull it up.
