The Home Concierge

Doors & Windows

It is never just the one door.

  • The bedroom door that sticks every summer
  • The deadbolt you have to lift the door to turn
  • The closet door off its track since March
  • The screen the dog went through
  • The draft under the back door
  • The patio slider that takes two hands

Any one of them is too small to get a contractor out. Together they are a full day of work, and every door in the house closes the way it should.

Common questions

Can you fix a door without replacing it?

Almost always. Sticking, rubbing, sagging and latch trouble are nearly always hinges, shims or a strike plate, not a new door. We only recommend replacing when the slab or the frame itself has failed, and we will tell you that at the Home Walk™ rather than after we have started.

Do you supply the door hardware?

Basic knobs, levers and deadbolts in black, bronze, chrome or satin nickel are included. If you want a particular brand or finish we do not carry, buy it and we install it, or we pick it up and bill it at cost.

Can you re-screen my window, or do I need a new frame?

If the frame is straight we re-screen the one you have, and the mesh and spline are included. A bent or split frame needs replacing. We will tell you which one you have before we start.

The patio slider is stuck. Is that a repair or a replacement?

Usually rollers and a dirty track, which is a small job and leaves most of the day for other things. A full slider replacement takes most of a day on its own.

Do I need to be home?

For the Home Walk™ at the start, yes. After that it is up to you.
